Not looking to start a discussion on how many fatalities would be prevented from helmet wearing.

It's innovation on the fashion and comfort front I guess. I can only assume it provides a comparable level of protection as traditional helmets. Hope it's reliable though!

So pointless. The only people who would care enough about fashion or style to want or need one won't be spending enough money on their bike to warrant such a expensive helmet. Unless their entire living room is decked out with Bang & Olufsen.

Isnt one of the things about this that it offers far more protection than a standard helmet? Certainly looks like it does in the neck area anyway.

    Cool bit of technology.

Looks pretty cool to me, and i'm pretty sure i'd be more likely to wear/use than a traditional helmet. I don't wear a helmet mostly because i find them awkward and cumbersome (aside from the debates about effectiveness etc).

I use lights and take other safety precautions because i think the gain outweighs the hassle.

    Was/is there pricing info somewhere?

I think it's a pretty cool idea, to be honest.

It's a clunky prototype at the moment, and in its current form wouldn't suit a lot of people, but if it could be made small and unobtrusive enough to be incorporated into a necklace or the neckline of a jersey, it could well relegate the helmet/no helmet debate to history.

Lots of development to do before that happens though :D

If I didn't wear helmet I'd need some way of keeping my hair from sticking up like Beaker.

I've tried a cap, but what's the advantage of a great big neck-scarf thing + cap compared to a helmet? Style I suppose, but I don't have any of that either.

Helmets are simple and cheap. If I was bothered by a helmet I'd just not wear one.

If they are using sodium azide as the explosive like in a car airbag, there's no way I'm gonna ride around with an explosive and highly toxic substance around my neck. That's taking the whole fashion victim thing way too far

The problem is that whenever Hovding make a new video about their "Airbag for Cyclists" we end up with yet another thread on the subject;)

I don't think they made a new video, but the product has launched and is now in shops and their online shop, so they are getting more coverage.

People who don't have a problem with helmets = not their target market.

Stupid video. Gave up watching that video after about 2 minutes of them talking about how impossible it is and how they were told how women can't invent things. What is the actual product? Is there a prototype or any details on what they are talking about?

I dont really see what it has to do with fashion, style or keeping up with the Johanssens

If the thing is better at protecting your skull it makes huge sense
