    hi lads,
bought this knife about 2 weeks ago from america on ebay, cost 12 dollars for knife and 5 dollars for postage.second hand but excellent condition.i've used it for 2 weeks which included gutting a few rabbits.cannot speak highly enough.there are many others on ebay.com for similar money and because they are second hand there is no duty.i just thought it was a good deal considering the cost of buck knives here!

didn't know about the 22 euro thing, sorry about the false info, when i wasn't charged i assumed it was because it was second hand but having thought about it your explanation makes alot more sense!

My mate landed into me with a buck knive last weekend to sharpen it and my first impression is what a load of dirt this is . Got out the stone and started into it . Out from a crow bar ya couldn get any worse , with about 10 min of sharpening and a few F 's out of me about the state of it , and the job been taken over by my old fella I was shocked at the edge this blade could take . Not bad at all . I've a video il post up tomorrow

learned that lesson with my buck when i first got it
let it get to blunt took an age to get an edge back on it
so now everytime i use it i give it a quick lick with the sharpening stone and its fine
once ya can shave hairs on yer arm its fine nothing worse than a blunt knife
thats what causes more accidents in the field

Amazed Nanny E Bay actually allowed you to complete the transaction!!
Been trying to buy a couple of knives recently off Ebay sellers in the US and Ebay wont allow the transaction at the payment stage.

Their[flea bay] customers loss!! I just paid a bit more and bought them from online knife stores. After of course informing Ebay and their respective customers that they lost a sale because Ebay has decided to play social police again,as to who can own what in Ireland.

I think it is to do with the way they list it, I have been able to buy identical items from some sellers and not others.

The last time I got the 'ebay won't let you buy' error I just sent a polite message to the seller and they offered to sell it off ebay for the same price. They just sent an invoice to my paypal, a couple of clicks and its done.

Worth a shot if there's something you fancy at a good price but you're getting that error message.

Did you get hit for any extras when you bought it Grizz, nervous buying from the states last time the item cost 30 then 25 deliver then had to pay 30 to the carrier. FFS takes the joy out of a good bargain

anything imported from outside eu that is over 22 euro in value is supposed to pay customs
you paid 55 euro for the item vat at 23% is amlost 13 euro then an post or whoever charge a handling fee because of the extra hassle with customs etc an post charge 6 euro for this even though the supplier already paid the shipping cost

I got caught a few years ago for stuff from the states and was left out of pocket, FedEx and UPS are B*stards thep really rip you off but what I found is that if USPS ship the item you dont get caught! ;)

Nothing yet..I'm sure Fedex will send somthing in due time..Usually for such a small sum it still makes worth buying over than try to buy it here from a dealers and hit by ridicilous markups..

if I have a choice USPS is the way to go,but this time they would have cost more than FedEx for some reason.

sorry lads ,just wondering does the 22 euro cover just the value of the item or the postage plus the value of item?
