BMW 320D keys stolen - options ??

A friends BMW 320D (06) was stolen today. He has got it back apparently undamaged but it was taken with one of the original keys. Now he has the car back but is still minus one set of keys so he's looking at options that don't include sitting up around the clock waiting for a return visit.

Can the car be re-coded to a new key set ? And if so, I'm guessing that the dealership is the only option for this (a pricey exercise, I'm sure )

Tracking system or some form of anti hijack system, but then again thats probably as costly if not moreso than recoding the keys

I had a camper broken into and a set of keys went allong with lots of other stuff. This happened in Spain and when I got home the insurance replaced all the locks (9) including the ignition.

The missing key can be deleted from the car, so it won't start it or operate the alarm/central locking. If it was an actual key, it will still open the car though obviously. If it was just the fob, I'm 99% sure it can be rendered useless.

yes the key can be deleted from the ECU, but the fob hides a metal physical key inside which can be clipped out. this will still open the doors but will set the alarm off and wont start the car either.

Does his insurance cover lock & key replacement?

4d6eb6252b742_1.jpg and alarm until the insurance swaps all locks and keys.
