What would it be and why? Mine would be anything to do with any enzyme involved in DNA. I thik they will be the key to greater understanding of huge amount of diseases. Anything to do with ms would also be interesting.

    Neurodegenerative diseases.
Horrible things that insidiously took people away from me.
    There are precious little treatments.
I don't take kindly to that.
    Time to pick a fight:mad:

HIV - huge problem and has led to many child headed families in sub saharan africa especially. The disease itself is horrific but social implications are as well. The stigma attatched to it even in first world educated populations has never been shaken off.

I'd like to research into the rarity of something:

Why is small bowel adenocarcinoma so rare?

I was talking to a nueroscience lecturer in ucd (a subject that I dont think I would be cut out for, too much physics). He was saying for the amount of money being pumped into research of these diseases were getting no where unfortunatly. I agree their horrible diseases and I hope we make real progress soon. I hope you get to research them someday.

Oh if you are going to hope things for me hope that I miraculously get offered large sums of money to be a ski racer despite being too old, too unfit and you know....not Austrian :pac:

Anyhow I think your friend is being a bit negative. Even as we speak there is a clinical trial for a drug treatment of MND going on in Ireland

Ha ha I will and I hope you have a nice austrian blonde to top it off!

Well hes not a friend just a guy I met at the end of a lecture once. He was being negative I suppose. He did say we are constantly being surprised about the brain's plasticity.

A cure for MND would be spectacular, but I think it's a long way off.

I found HIV research especially fulfilling. It results in a huge burden of disease the world over, and especially in vulnerable populations.
