places to stay near malaga, torremolinas??

does anyone have any experience in staying in torremolinas?
im taking a friend of mine to spain in sept. flying into malaga and it seems to be closest to the airport.
she needs to get away,she deserves a break.
cheap cheerful is what im looking for. we will chill out by day and then go for nice dinners and few quiet drinks at night.

would be nice if there is a bit of life somewhere close but we wont be going out mad every night.

have looked at few hotels, but dont really know the area, if anyone could throw a few suggestions of areas/hotels to stay i woud be very grateful.

Don't know if it's cheap & cheerful or not or what your budget is but I know people who stay here half board on a regular basis & are very happy with it.

I've stayed in the Bajondillo apartments and they were pretty good.

On the sea front with a few good restaurants near by and also easy for the town centre via a lift steps close to the rear of the hotel.

Don't rule out Benalmadena either if you can't find much in Torremolinos, its just down the road.

you could try fengirola to its slightly further out then torremolinos by about 10-15 minutes
