I made a priest costume last Halloween out of a simply black shirt and paper dog collar.

I also took a trip into smyths, bought a stuffed monkey, dressed it fully in the ages 3-5 section from pennies & pinned it around my waist. Nice little hat and everything so it looked like a well dressed 5 year old.

Got a great laugh, homemade costumes are the best.

Alternatively you might try: burn victim (just need an old white sheet) or take an old/cheap suit, cut the back out of it and use those invisible strap things to hold it on.

Don't go as a ship captain anyway.

Bought mine last halloween thinking I would stand out.

Safe to say, the club I went to looked like a Poseidon social night.

Read the post... the monkey was dressed up as a 5 year old.... As in it looked like a fully dressed child...

I should really edit it to be more clear :P

Go naked except for a crown and you could say you are the Emperor from the famous childrens novel, 'The Emperor and his new clothes'.
