Im just building an XLR breakout box, on one side are 8 male xlr plugs and on the otherside are 8 female.

inside the box each male xlr is wired to a female..
    get the idea?

anyway, the 3 pins are fine, but there is a forth that looks like an "earth" should i contect this earth on the male to the corresponding eath on the female?

any ideas, i can provide photos.........

There are certain circumstances.......... but unless you want to get into grounding structures and architectures leave it disconnected
