Clutch on my 98 Avensis 1.8 (150k Miles) started slipping last week and is getting to the un-driveable stage now...takes for ever to get up to speed on any sort of incline.
Place in Walkinstown is quoting €350 to replace.
NCT is due in Sept but I am also planning on replacing this car before the end of the year.

Is it worth it in "resale" value to fix the clutch and try to get it through the NCT?

    The short answer is no,

BUT you'll more than likely save the 350 euro on your new car if you're not forced into buying in a hurry , walking from garage to garage

In other words by having the avens is driving it takes the pressure off buying which will help you get value and what you want instead of compromising .

So get it done and even if it fails NCT you'll get til Xmas out of it

Yeah thats kinda what I'm thinking, I dont want to buy a new car in a week.

Is that a good price for a clutch job? Cant seem to find any cheaper.

Now to decide on what to replace it with...some nice Saab 93s
out there, looking for 13k for this one.

I would replace it unless you can buy something else immediately and are willing to break/scrap the avansis as if you have an accident your insurance may not pay out if the clutch is knackered

    Yes 350 is very good

You want to be robbing a Saab, they'll go the way of rovers so an 09 would want to be sub 8 k

does the 350 include the clutch or is it labour only?

No, Rover where right heaps of crap, Saab are a better car than that. Parts are still available.

FYI got clutch replaced today by Walkinstown Clutch & Gearbox Centre.
€340 inc vat and I can now go from 0 -20 in less than 20s :D. Also gearbox feels like new.

    Now for the NCT :o

Way overpriced IMO. I'd go for the 150bhp (16 valve). Economy is more or less the same.

    You'd get this for €4k cheaper. http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3328844

That was just a quick example of the price difference of the two 2009 cars.
