Hey guys can someone suggest the best cards for the mark3? Is compact better then sd? Is there much difference between the two. Also I see the mark3 can shoot all-i which writes up to 90mbs. Do I need a card that will shoot with low compression or is there a difference visually between footage shot at 60mbs or 90mbs

    What are you shooting?

I shoot sports, so I need high write rates on my cards. I use Sandisk Extreme Pro cards.

If you shoot video, you may also need fast cards.

If you shoot weddings, landscapes, portraits, etc, then you don't need fast cards at all.

Ill be shooting video. But I'm wondering if I need to fork out for a 90mbs card or if 30 or 60 will do. Also is one card type more reliable then the other

I use a Transcend 32GB CF card in one slot and a Sandisk 32GB SD card in the other. Neither are top end cards but I have no problems recording video or stills to either. What I will say though is if you are recording to both cards simultaneously then the buffer is only 13 RAW files (65 jpeg so no issue there) so if you are using Hi fps shooting then you will fill RAW buffer pretty quickly and you need a faster CF card than what I use to empty it quickly. However if you are in One Shot mode most of the time then this is not an issue and to be honest it's not really an issue in hi fps either as you would be more likely using jpeg anyway but it's just a note if you were using RAW.

The reason for the 2 32GB cards is so I don't have to be swapping cards around at an event. Everything I take is recorded onto one card and immediately backed up onto the other.

Nah, the CF card above works fine with All-I. I can't visually see any difference between All-I and IPB. There must be more data in the All-I file as it's three times the size of the IPB but I don't know where or what it's for as I haven't noticed any difference in the editing or output either. I haven't been able to find any good explanation for the reason for All-I so I use IPB all the time now. You can fit nearly 2 hours IPB at 1920x1280 24fps onto the 32GB card but only just over half an hour in All-I!!
