Cloned Number Plate

Bit of an urgent one here guys. Any help appreciated.

My mum was on holiday's for a week (I was minding the house). This morning a speeding fine arrived in the post, yet the car didn't move from the driveway. Who would be the first port of call? The Gardaí or the office that issue the speeding fines?

I'm also prepared for the "driving away from a petrol station." to start happening. :(

    How do I approach this?

    Thanks. :)

So...That was quick. :o Turned out it was a '0' in the picture, not an '8' . A screw in the number plate is to blame.

    Crisis averted.

Wait, was it you my mum was talking too on the phone?

Anyway, was sorted quickly there and then. :) I'm under the impression this happens quite a bit?

It's done on purpose for the most part. People put a bit of tape or marker or a screw in the reg to make a 0 look like an 8. I'm sure the Garda you dealt with will follow up on the other driver and his reg.
