Network Monitor for advertising?

Sorry if this isn't in the right place but anyway.

I was wondering is it possible to have a monitor for a reception area play advertisements without the need for a full computer, sort of like what the NCT have in the waiting rooms.

I was thinking of some device that would play a slideshow or something and be managed by a web browser or connected via a network switch to a computer with software on it.

    Any ideas?

If you want it web based you need to have a domain/sub-domain and hosting. then you could use a slideshow program to create a slideshow to show your advertising. Something like pro-show gold.
Otherwise you can use a computer and PowerPoint on a loop.

How about one of these USB stick sized Android ICS Mini-PCs? 60 quid and works on any TV or monitor with HDMI in.
