Milage on runners for marathon

Conventionak wisdom seems to be that you should change runners every 400-500 miles or thereabouts. I just got a pair of 2170's and am training for my second marathon @ DCM. Following HH Inter.2 plan which means my milage will be up to around 540 on the day of the race.
Runners will be at the end of their life at this stage. Am I risking a dodgy race with these runners or should I have a fresher pair well broken in for race day? Aiming for 4-4.30 hrs if that makes any difference.

Thought I had posted this in the gear and equipment forum. Feel free to move Mods.

I think that the effect would be negligible and certainly not worth risking new runners for.

Got two pair of 2170's and started to get niggles with both of them at high 400's. Really loved them and didn't want to change. Got two pairs of Mizuno Wave Inspire 8. They took a week or so getting used to but prefer them much more now that the 2170's and niggles all gone. I am rotating between these and another pair of ascis dc trainers (which I hate)

Get another pair of runners next month, and alternate between them on runs. End of October you'll have two pairs of runners with 2-300 miles on each pair, and you can wear whichever pair you like for the marathon.

Runners will last longer anyway if you don't wear the same pair every run. They recover in between runs, just like your legs.
