Here's my situation, I know a guy for years, we hang around in the same group of friends. Recently we have realised that we are attracted to each other, we have kissed and met up a few times. It's a bit strange that we are taking our relationship to a new level but it's something I am prepared to explore, I think he is too. However here is the problem, because he has known me so long he knows a lot of things about me and my past, including the fact that I have been with a couple of guys in the group who he is good friends with. Am I fooling myself into thinking he will ever be ok with that? I know it's something that he has been thinking of and he is aware of, but do you think it's something he can fully get past or will he always have it in the back of his mind? Will he stop the relationship from progressing solely because of these past incidents? Is it enough to turn you off a girl that you genuinely like and have feelings for that she has been intimate with a couple of your friends?
I should add that these 'hook ups' weren't long term relationships or serious connections, it was usually drunken sex after I went through a painful breakup and I naively felt safer doing it with a couple of guy friends that I knew and felt I could trust. At that time, I never thought that it could possibly come back to haunt me a couple of years later.
We are both in our early 30's so we aren't teenagers and we both have pasts so to speak. Would love to hear people's opinions on this situation?

Personally I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen it loads of times among friends of mine, and it's rarely been an issue. Everyone has their past, and you're both adults. He knows about it, and obviously is still interested, so I just wouldn't mention it, and let the past be the past.

Unless he's a virgin then why should he be concerned about your past? At least you don't have to have the (frankly boring) 'what's your sexual history' conversation. You're both adults and your past is both what makes you what you are and is also just that - your past.

    Enjoy :)
