iPhone 4... China... unlocking...

Hi all, recently bought an iPhone 4 second-hand from my sister's boyfriend, which I plan to take to China when I go back there in a few weeks (I'm an English teacher over there). The phone is currently locked to Vodafone network, which doesn't operate in China (although I've now taken out the Vodafone microsim). Does anyone know if I can get it unlocked over in China? And how much would it roughly cost?

Sorry if these are stupid questions but this iPhone is my first ever Apple device and I don't understand how all this unlocking business works.
