Dell XPS RAM upgrade mystery

    Hi all,

Just purchased a RAM upgrade (4gb) for Dell XPS m1530 running Vista 32 bit.

The system seems to be detecting the new cards properly, they're showing up on device manager and the new RAM is showing correctly.

However Windows is crashing after a few minutes every time. The programs that usually load at startup (such as antivirus, steam, rainmeter etc) start as usual, but then that's it - blue screen.

I have the blue screen error codes here:

    Memory allocation:
    0x000000a (0x00008886, 0x836DB0DC, 0x836958D8, 0x00000500)

The new RAM cards are generic Corsair DDR2 667MHz 2x200 pin SODIMMS (2 sticks, 2Gb each) bought from Elara.

Any help would be much appreciated, I'm not much of a techie and I'm completely lost here.

Faulty memory modules, even new ones, are not unheard of. ;)

Download and run Memtest86+ and see if the RAM passes the test.

P.S.: Your laptop can also take PC2-6400 (800 MHz)
