Ive been struggling for form a bit this year and im putting down to a lack of practice. Im playing off 8 but certain parts of game are really inconsistent.

My driving is currently the biggest problem, ive always had an over the top move but lately its gotten worse and my scores are getting worse because of it.

I also dont practice my short game nearly enough as i should. My problem is if i have a few hours i like to play a few holes even though i know i should be chipping, pitching and putting.

I play 2-3 times a week and i usually dont even practice for an hour a week. My question is how many hours a week do you practice? And how many times do you play?

Been getting out twice a week after work for 9 holes then a competitive round on a saturday morning...have been able to work on different things on the course which the driving range is just no use for.

Have also tried to avoid improving my lie etc when im practising after work, just play it as it lies and the improvment in my saturday golf is visible.

I usually take aound 90 minutes on my own during the after work rounds and 4 hours on the saturday with maybe one session on the driving range for good measure. So 8 - 10 hours max a week..I also like to spend 30 minutes on the putting green before a round and concentrate on giving the ball a solid strike over line as i find if im striking the putt well i tend to not leave putts short as opposed to fixtaing on line and mi****ting them.

I generally try and play once per week on a Saturday or a Sunday morning.
I dont have time for any more or any practice but my handicap came down this year so am happy with that.

I'm off 9. I'd say I play 16-20 rounds of golf a year. I would practice maybe 10 hours a year, mostly hitting chips & pitches, maybe two or three visits to the driving range. Apart from arriving a little for tee off, and hitting a few chips and putts that's it. So I feel for you.

My game tends to be pretty inconsistent. Typically I would tend to have a few bad holes of double bogey or worse, but lots of pars and a couple of birdies. I tend to get better the longer the summer goes on, most of my low rounds are in August & September. Then winter comes and I lose interest, and have other commitments.

So by the following spring it is groundhog day - my run of pars has become a rut of bogeys, I stop getting birdies. Its quite annoying really, but young family and wife think I already play too much. I feel I could lose a few shots but realistically with so little practise and so little course time I have little chance, other than shooting one or two really low rounds. My lowest is 72, +1 gross, so I know its in there. But who doesnt feel that way!!
