Need new tyres for my MTB and confused by the difference between foldable and wired tyres. I get that ones wired and ones folds, but is there any difference in performance?

    Cheers.

Foldable ones are generally heavier and cheaper.

Sorry, brain not engaged. Yeah, the foldable ones have a kevlar bead which makes them lighter but more expensive.

Ah so they're suppose to be better for punctures. Ok that's a valid Reason for difference in price.

    Thanks lads.

No, I don't think so. The bead is a thin wiry band that sits inside the rim at the base of the sidewall, holding the tyre in place. This is different from a Kevlar puncture protection belt which runs under the tyre tread.

An ok, never new the technical name for the bead. Thanks for your help.
