I strongly suspect that in fact a hanger would work, but just to note that this little baby picked up a pristine Saorview signal today for me in Northside Dublin.

I have a €100 aerial up on the roof, but got this today for the craic and to have a backup/reference point if my signal goes from the main aerial.

    c

Note I actually picked this up from my local €2 shop so not sure if the dealz stores have stock...

My Wife had a look in the store in Cork yesterday...

She couldn't find any aerials at all..

Will check again towards the weekend..

Its worth the price of a pint not to have to search for it in €2 shops.

For anyone else looking for a Tv aerial, check out amazon for August aerial DTA180 and read the reviews. I found it cheaper on ebay but anyway.

I have a small tv in the bedroom. As I was moving home, I bought one of these aerials that was posted in the first post by Phibsboro, to see if it would work on the tv because there's no aerial wire in the bedroom at home. It worked perfectly in the rented house until I got home and it didn't.

We had a spare aerial around the house but it wasn't perfect. It would need fidgeting around with when you switch on the tv. But this august aerial is the best. No fidgeting with the aerial.

That got mixed reviews on amazon.

True. I have an "outside" aerial (from tvtrade as it happens) in the attic - i.e. out of sight because I don't want to look at wobbly rabbits-ears or other strange shapes in my living-room - but before I ran the cable down the outside of the house I stripped off about 10 cm of the outer braid and held the stripped cable end up at the window facing 3Rock (about 10km) and got an acceptable signal (other cable end plugged into TV of course). So you can keep your hangers for their designated use, but you will get cramp after holding the cable up all through the Weather Forecast ;-). This close to 3Rock there's no need for thingies on your chimney or an amplified antenna or ugly tin-foil origami in your livingroom.

Having said that, I forgot I had left the 1.49 aerial plugged in until today when I noticed the signal was breaking up, presumably due to the nice weather. Switched back to my rooftop aerial and the picture was perfect. So I guess the 1.49 aerial comes with a weather warning :D
