How do you find a nice holiday home in Ireland?

Have holidayed in the UK a few times, and the state operated Tourist Website gives an honest to goodness ratings system with rankings of 1 star to 5 star. After that there are regional award winners and gold medal winners, and national award winners. So there are about 8 levels in all.

Here the discover Ireland website tells me that a holiday home is either a 3 star or a 4 star....its either kind of nice or kind of not nice......and thats it. So in other words, you just have no clue what the place will be like (if you accept that photos can be misleading).

Is there any other source that gives good evaluations of holiday homes/ cottages etc.....so that if you want to go to Kerry or Mayo or wherever, it will help you find a genuinely nice place to stay, and is objective about it.

The only one I can find is the Special Places to Stay website.
