Wont name any names here but just want peoples opinions on this situation

Went to look at a van being sold by a dealership early last week......anyway liked what I saw so made a deal subject to a car history check

Dealer was to valet and DOE the van and I was to ring him back....which I did, so rang him back that evening and he said he had to arrange bits and pieces etc and it should be done before the weekend or Saturday

so rang him back again today and I'm informed he hasn't got the DOE done as the owner hasn't given the garage the logbook ???

tbh I'm a little worried...everything seems fine with the car history check but the above seems a bit weird along with some other details like the fact the van was not in the dealers main yard but in another yard (with lots of other cars and other businesses to be fair) and the fact that I pointed to a part of the engine I didn't recognize and asked a "supposed" mechanic what it was and he didn't know either.

seems strange a dealer wouldn't have a logbook for a vehicle he was selling.......is he just trying to put me off because he has a better offer or something?

Hate that messing. If it has been moved around the trade, the log book could well be missing. Don't buy it til you see it but I wouldn't be hanging around if things are not happening as promised.

Being a van, transit/ hiace/ berlingo etc they are easily found. if your not happy just move on.

Stay away. Imagine you had a mechanical problem....there would be serious messing around.

Log book's are somtimes lost by the previous owner or on change of hands that would not worry me too much but just make sure before money changes hands that it is there in front of you to sign and also make sure you get a copy of it.

If the deal was to have van tested make sure it is and if you can bring a mechanic to give a quick look over.
