Pre Schools in the Finglas area

Our daughter was 3 a few days ago and we've left it really late to apply to pre schools/playschools (actually is there a difference between a pre school and a play school?) as we were away during summer and are moving at the moment so we were not sure where we were going to be living but probably should have put her name down in a few schools at least.

She's not eligible for the free year until September 2013. The only thing left is to see if we can get her into a school nearby that's not too expensive. I'm in uni and my wife is looking after the kids so money is tight. Does anyone know approximately weekly/monthly costs for pre/play schools or if there is some type of assistance program?

If you contact Finglal County childcare commitee they will be able to give you a list of preschools in your area. then it's just a case of visiting a few and seeing which one you like best. You'll probably pay anything between 50-70 per week for preschool.

thanks, we got her sorted for a school thank God in finglas village, starting on mon (induction week). i happened to find out about a meeting in cabra in the tolka area partnership offices and they gave me loads of info. was down at the school today and was well impressed by the setup. includes breakfast and lunch and they use the highscope curriculum which again sounds impressive. hopefully it all works out well.
