PPS Number and marriage

Hi When a couple marry and opt for joint assessment, do both spouses maintain their individual PPS number, or is there just one PPS number for the couple. Thanks

PPS numbers are unique to each person.

previously (as in almost a decade ago) the wifes pps no was changed to the mans (i think)

nowadays your pps number is yours for life it doesn't change with marriage.

They used to attach a W to the end of a husbands number and that was the wifes. Making it different to the husbands and thus unique.

But they don't do that anymore and anyone who goes in with a PPS with W on the end gets a new number these days.
