    Hi,

I've been given the task of choosing which computers to get in my work. I have a fair idea of computers but don't really know where to go for a business one. It's only for office and web, running videos and showing pictures etc so doesn't need to be amazing. At the same time I don't want to be buying a terrible processor or something that will be awful to use in a few years time. We need screens too.

Any suggestions? All I've been to is the dell site.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Any companies I've worked for, tend to use Dells.

Depending on how many you require, you probably want to talk to someone at Dell to negotiate a group/bulk discount, throw in a few extras rather than just order them via the online website.

    Things to consider
    a) whether the standard support is enough, or you need to pay extra eg. if going with Dell, they may have a better corporate support option
    b) if your HR department is big into ergonomics, then you might need a screen with an adjustable height stand to raise/lower to each users eye level
    c) whether they can bundle Ms Office into the deal
    d) what size screen to go for... ideally the bigger the better
    e) Official Microsoft Windows XP extended support ends on 08/04/2014, so you'll need a PC that can comfortably run Windows 7, and ensure your users can use Windows 7 too. Otherwise, in less than 2 years, your operating system will no longer get security patches.

I've never had to deal with this side of I.T., but just throwing a few things to consider into your decision process there.

    regards,
    CD
