Hey guys, so just thinking off the top of my head, upgrading (or downgrading should I say) from Sky and Im looking for a combi box that could :

Pick up the HD English Channels (BBC HD, ITV etc),
    Pause and record, usb port.
Has an ethernet port or wifi option
    could do Netflix
    and running android possibly?

Maybe I'm off my nut but if their is any box remotely close to these features please tell me. Any info appreciated, cheers.

Get yourself a Humax Foxsat HDR (cost about £250) which will give you all you want except Saorview (not sure about Netflix) and get a Saorview STB and an aerial for the Irish channels.

So, three seperate boxes then? :)

If your TV is Saorview capable, then only the Humax is needed, and the Humax remote should work for both TV and sat.

I was making the point that Irish TV is not available from the Astra satellite at 28.2E.

The Humax would come the closest to fulfilling the OP's wish list.

    New ST 7162 Fulan Boxes.

Sold as Amiko Alien 2, Golden Media Spark Triplex or Sab Unix Triple.

    See this thread

They do all that you are looking for and start at €169, all are the very same though.

And one of these ''Play TV (PS3)'' http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Play-TV-PS3/dp/B0017UV0UG

You could then record digital tv channels that can be picked up from your aerial. However, as i have found it constantly freezes so, could do with an update from Sony but doesn't seem to be one of their priorities.

A PS3 is a games console not a set top box.

The PS3 does not fulfill the OPs requirements as it doesnt have a satellite tuner.

I'm looking for something similar - the holy grail almost of tv!!

So here is what I am thinking of going with.
For the TV channels bit, I'm thinking of the Xoro 9000 (http://www.tvtrade.ie/satellite-combo-receiver-xoro.html). Its cheap and seems to do all that's required. Might be persuaded to edge towards the Avira 250l, its a bit more expensive but I think it has a better media player function.
Then for the Netflix option, I was thinking of the Equiso Smart TV Pro (or some thing similar) (http://www.ebay.ie/itm/170889125278?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649)
I would hope that with the Equiso Smart TV Pro that it could work also with Sky GO and Liveonlinefooty.com. Then I could get rid of my noisy Xbox completely.

Haven't made any concrete decisions yet, so I am still open to suggestions.

Actually, with the PS3 + Play TV, do you not have a box capable of receiving NetFlix and SaorView reception?

No Satellite as requested by the OP.
