    Hi all,
I am viewing a car tomorrow, a Toyota Aygo. After much reading of this forum i am happy to give it an initial investigation, however if that is successful I want a mechanic to check over it. Does anyone know what my best bet may be? Would I be best contacting a toyta dealer or any local mechanic?

    Thanks
    Dave

are you looking to buy it as a private sale or from a garage?

Make sure and bring a friend in a Skoda Octavia so you can bring it home :)

This is a private sale. It was NcT less than a month ago.

If it were me i'd post up the location of the car and ask for recommendations of a local mechanic.

have you done a history report first?

this is much cheaper than a mechanical checkover and gives you the option to back out earlier and costing less money if the car is a dud.

i'd do a full motorcheck report on it for €35 and if it's all clean on that, then i'd pay for an inspection. i think motorcheck sells mechanical inspections too, a little expensive though.

Thanks. I will definitely pay for the cartel check after the initial inspection.

Two other things have now crept up. The aygo appears to have a common problem with the water pump and clutch both failing prior to what may be considered a reasonable period. Should I be concerned about this or anyone else know more?
