    heya,

I was thinking of getting braces, my teeth arent bad at all.. just need a bit of straightening.
I went to have a free promotional consultation on invisalign.. and the price that was quoted was like 3400.. as im a student that seems a bit expensive to me.. so im wondering if i got the metal braces would it be cheaper or not?
I know price depends on the state of the teeth, but if somebody got braces in galway area.. how much was it?
+ does it cost to have a consultation???

Well I have ceramic braces on top and metal on bottom and it's costing me €4000. And that's in Kerry! So what you were quoted for Invisalign is actually quite cheap!

It often doesn't matter how "bad a state" your teeth are in, the braces will usually be about the same price. Unless you need surgery/implants or anything more expensive like that. I wouldn't go with who is offering the cheapest deals anyway, you get what you pay for!

Get a few different opinions too and be wary of extractions... they might help straighten your teeth but can drastically alter the shape of your face (I had them as a teenager and ended up with my mouth sinking inwards).

Have you looked into 6 month smile braces? I'm not sure if there's somewhere in Galway that does them but it's worth looking in to, they're usually more affordable

For braces?? A 5 minute visit per month for up to 3 years and you think that going abroad would be cost effective!!

Heya, just had a read through this as I'm looking to get braces myself.

I want the 6 month braces and I've already seen two different ortho's.

I have a crossbite on one tooth and one of them said that the braces could go on, no problem, on one arch. The other one said that I'd need the two arches done or my bite will be off.

I dunno what to do.. I'm emigrating next year and kinda wanted this all over and done with before then.

I don't wanna end up with a gammier bite than I already have now.

    Any suggs? :)

    Hi

there is a lot of threads about 6 month braces so i am sure you will find all you need to know.

Best thing is to discuss with your dentist or orthodontist, pick one you trust and go from there.

Wow, €1200 per jaw is good. The place I researched was 1500 per jaw or 2500 for both arches.
The place Im looking at give metal braces which will be train tracks but I think you can get the white ones which are slightly dearer but not too sure!
