Pretty sure they've been around a couple of years. I think they're mostly technology for technology's sake, rather than being particularly useful. I think the trend for tiny mobile phones died out a good while ago; it seems clear that people will sacrifice size for a phone that's more usable. Who'd want to watch a movie on a one inch screen?!

There are some watches that hook up to your phone and will tell you if you've got new messages, who's calling etc. I suppose that could be useful if you're regularly in meetings and don't want to be seen looking at your phone a lot of the time, but it all seems a bit gimmicky.

Actually I think casio came out first with a mobile phone watch in 2001 or 2002 it was an actual mobile phone with very limited useability. They could only store 50 contacts they could receive but not send sms messages... Oh and they cost an arm a a leg.

As someone who collects watches I'd have no interest in them. As someone who has a big interest in technology I also have no interest in them.
