    Hi all,
I'm starting college in Blanchardstown IT come September. I'll be moving up from Clare, renting with a friend in Tallaght. Can somebody please recommend the best/fastest way of getting to Blanchardstown by bus/car please. I'd really appreciate the help.

There are a few options by bus:

Route 76A links Tallaght directly with Blanchardstown, unfortunately it's not the most frequent with just 3 departures daily in each direction. The 76A leaves from The Square and will take you to Blanchardstown Village, from here change to the 38 or 38A to continue to Blanchardstown IT.

Alternatively, take any bus from Tallaght to College Green, walk to Suffolk Street, take the 38/38A/38B to Blanchardstown IT. Not ideal, as it means traveling through the city centre.

It's direct enough by car using the M50, although there is a toll. From the ITB website:

Travelling Northbound on the M50 take Exit 6 for Blanchardstown/ Navan/ Cavan (N3). Follow the slip road & take N3 towards Navan. Travel straight along N3 (through 2 sets of traffic lights) and take the second slip road for the Blanchardstown Town Centre.
At the top of the slip road, take the 3rd exit – across the N3 overpass where you will meet a roundabout. Go straight through this roundabout and travel along this road for approx. 1 mile to the next roundabout & take the 1st exit which is the entrance to the ITB campus.

    Hey debs!

If you have access to a car that might be the best option! I straight down the m50!

Otherwise there are a number of public transport options not great!

Option 1: the 76a from the square. It's an infrequent service that runs from the square to Blanchardstown centre

From the shopping centre there is a free shuttle bus to the campus.

Option 2: would be to take the 76 bus to liffey valley shopping centre and then board a 239 to Blanchardstown shopping centre. From there you'd be able to take the shuttle bus to the campus.

Option 3: would be to take the bus or luas from Tallaght to the city. From the city you have A number of options:

    - the 38, 38a or 38b will leave you closest to the campus. About a 5 minute walk from the last corduff stop (turn right and walk down, campus is on the left), 38b is fastest

    - the 37/39/39a to Blanchardstown shopping centre and take the shuttle bus. 39a is the fastest

    - maynooth line train to coolmine train station and get the shuttle from the train station

Link to remaining city Blanchardstown buses (do not take a 70 as it will leave you a fair bit away from where you want too go to, it doesn't serve Blanchardstown centre) http://www.dublinbus.ie/en/Your-Journey1/Timetables/?searchtype=place&searchquery=Navan+Rd.+(Ashtown+Roundabout)

    Thats quite a trek man.

I'd recommend either getting a car or accommodation if at all possible. The 76a is very irregular and I'm sure you'd be stranded for much of the time being reliant on that bus. Tallaght - Town - Blanch could be a more sure option but you'd end up traveling more than anything else.

It might also be worth looking at www.carsharing.ie, Itb has a group on it.

    You never know!

True, its a pity what they did to the 76a, they had a chance to make a perfectly good orbital roufe and they bottled it. people give out about the plans for metro west, but the simple fact is that you cant get from north of the city to south without a car, otherwise you have to go via the city!
