Myself and three friends are looking for somewhere close to TCD to stay for the academic year. Was hoping to get somewhere in Rathmines/Ranelagh-around Dublin 6. Getting slightly anxious now as the CAO offers are out soon and would like to get it sorted before then. If anyone has anything that they think would suit it would be greatly appreciated! :)

Bella- seriously pop into Trinity and UCD. The Student's Union in both have accommodation officers- who normally maintain a list of available property in their respective areas (Ranelagh and Rathmines are more comprehensively covered by UCD). That- and keeping a sharp eye on the newspaper and the likes of DAFT, is your best bet. Keep in mind- the vast majority of potential landlords would run a mile rather than countenance renting to a group of students (and least of all Freshers)- so if you do find something- don't shoot yourself in the foot labouring the fact that you're a 1st year.

I'd also suggest you familiarise yourself with tenancy law- in particular the 2004 Residential Tenancies Act (as amended). It details your obligations as a tenant, and your landlord's obligations towards you. Its very helpful to know where everyone stands.
