GUI aren't to bothered about society golf and you will not get cut for most society comp's.

All clubs have a sheet on the gents notice board where you are supposed to fill out away scores not covered by golfnet.

Yes, but if it was only a society competition and not a qualifying competition with GUI handicaps and CSS then no cut applies. Counts for no more than if you had scored 38 playing a casual round with your pals.

I know of a handicap sec who cuts players for any card they hand in to him. It could be a casual game between friends. Once card is filled out and signed correctly he cuts for it.

Well he shouldn't. However, non-qualifying singles events (such as societies) are now considered by CONGU to be worthy for immediate consideration by handicap committees for a cut (pages 15 and 45 congu manual).

Yeah I thought that this year was the first year that society cards can be considered for a cut. Think most clubs have some sort of book or log for them.but id imagine you need the card?

There is a sheet on the notice board in our club that you fill in. Don't think you need the card

You need to have the SS and CSS if applicable. Your club should have a sheet where you fill in this info - if not, I'd call your h.c sec.

i don't think clubs are bothered by classic scores unfortunately . I've played well in a few recently and told my handicap secretary of my scores and they were ignored.

normally classic are played off easier tee's as well too

Yes I know there is no CSS calculated but the SSS is used in those cases, and while it doesn't automatically get a cut it's meant to be taken in to consideration.

He didn't say classic, he said society and I disagree with the attitude of some posters saying not to bother reporting the scores, because the HC committee or sec. won't do anything anyway, that's just plain nonsense.
It's the players responsibility to report away scores (not covered by Golfnet)and how they are subsequently dealt with isn't really that relevant in this case.

I was under the impression that if the society isn't an affilliated society then the score carries no more weight than a casual round with your friends (as essentially thats all it is) ?

Best bet is to find out what constitutes an "away" score and, if yours does, tell the h/c sec. If it doesn't then I wouldn't worry about it.
