Can anyone recommend a way of killing moss? We've a severe problem with it at the moment, it has been building up over the last few years. It's now hampering grass growth and even in the fields that were recently drained and reseeded it is causing havoc. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

sounds like a Ph problem, get a simple Ph test done and see what it comes back with but nearly certain it will need lime, for now a spring tine harrows and harrow as much of the moss out as possible. addition of Sulphur would also suppress moss growth

You're spot on with the pH. We've added lime, but probably not enough. Does the lime kill off the existing moss? Hoping to get rid of the mat that is already growing at this stage

chain harrow will do a world of good. I think iron sulphate is what they use for killing moss on lawns

i chain harrowed ground (which i know know will need lime) to rip up moss and freshen the ground and have good clean grass but all i did was clear room for weeds to grow so my advice would be to spray (legumex or similar) after you harrow it. how long after i couldnt say

    This is the best answer.

It is expanded on in this site dedicated to lawns. A lawn may not be exactly what you are trying to get moss free - but if there is any group of people who can advise on how to get rid of moss, then it is gardeners.
