I'm just interested if anyone knows about the background of this website, and what the deal with it etc? Like many I quite enjoy browsing this blog, seems like they have a huge amount of writers/contributers - and seem to be able to capture so many interesting little things around the country etc.

I saw an interesting post on another blog (can't find the link now sorry) going over the website stats over the last year (it was their second birthday not long ago) and they seem to had massive success with millions of hits. They get an impressive amount of engagement and comments etc too.

Not sure of its history, its not as busy as journal.ie and its 15 minute update list format is rather clumsy (a lot of scrolling!) but at least I don't need to be on a couple of "social media" sites to be able to post.

The blog you were referring to is here. Broadsheet's owned by John Ryan (Wiki I know but still...).

I'm addicted to the damn site and have had a couple of photos and newspaper links published (ooh the ego!). Other than that, no connection at all.

I'm one of the Broadsheet contributors and take care of some of the tech stuff.

What do you want to know? I can't guarantee that I'll answer everything but I'll have a go.

This is down to the submissions we get in via email/Facebook.Twitter. There's a constant stream of stuff coming in. One thing that bothers me is when people complain about not featuring stuff from their locality but never send in anything!
