Audi A3 1.8 non turbo -strong smell of petrol from engine bay -- ideas ?

    As title.

    Herself is currently driving a Golf Audi A3 1.8. Car was layed up for 5 weeks while we were back in ireland.

    Anyway have noticed a strong smell of petrol from the frond end of the car. It was in for the WOF (NZ NCT equivlant) it was the tester who brought it up.
    No fumes are coming into the cabin etc but its very noticable when you get out of the car after a spin.. The car passed the test in the end.
    But need to get this sorted.. Had alook around the engine bay and nothing seemed obvious, fuel leaks etc...

    Any Ideas ?
