Hiace vs Transit best for fuel economy - when loaded

    After my previous posts about high top transit, I was reminded of how much I loved my old Hiace (sad I know!) So I've been looking at second hand Hiaces for the past week (the 2005 LWB D4D model) but depending on the garage I speak to I'm getting mixed info on their fuel economy.

    I know the Transit (SWB) and Hiace are both pretty low on fuel economy compared to VW, vitos etc. but which is better and does the 05 Transit (swb) have the 6 speed gearbox

    trany drives a little better but the hiace is a feckin tank.

    all comes down to previous owners for me... well their maintenance of the van... and yes, i too want a turbo vito so bad its not even mentionable :mad:

    Aswell as the trouble they give, there actually scrap along with primastar's and Vw LT
