Woodfordes Wherry problem

    Hi all,

    I made a Woodfordes Wherry kit a few weeks ago. The recommended temp to pitch yeast was 18-20 degrees. My temp was around 26/28 degrees when I pitched the yeast.

    The fermentation seems to be going ok each time I have taking a reading. It is now down to 1.010 after 2 weeks which would seem a perfect time for bottling. However there is a lot of floating sediment in the sample tube when taking a sample and visible sediment at the top of the wort in the fermenter.

    Can anybody advise on my next move. I'm getting the feeling it doesn't look right and blaming it on pitching the yeast at too high a temp.

    I had the same problem recently, because I had left the filter at the back of the tap pointed upwards (which collected a load of hops/sediment). I poured out around 100ml from the tap, and it cleared up. If the fermentation has run its course, then I would have thought that pitching at the wrong temperature hasn't had any impact.

    Completely spot on. It totally cleared up after I poured the first bit out.
