    Hi,

I've been researching this and cant get clarity on how my own setup would work so any advice would be really appreciated!

We have Sky set up - a new dish was put in a month or so ago.

The technician put the connection into our room - telling us we could set up another sky setup or FTA in there.

I've now setup our tv (a few years old so probably not Saerview enabled). I had assumed that one of these would sort me out if I connected it - http://www.tvtrade.ie/xoro-hd-satellite-receiver.html.

However - looks as if I might need to set up another dish to get UK and Irish free Satellite channels?

Do you know whether I could just buy this box and start dialling in or what else would I need to do to get this working?

    Thanks,

Why not put up an aerial? Saorsat is on another satellite, not the same satellite as Sky and is intended as an option for those who are not able to receive it by aerial. Saorsat does not and possibly may never carry 3 or 3e

Your sky dish is trained to the astra 2 satellite. All the free uk channels are broadcast from this.

So you are good to go to recieve freesat from your sky dish. However, if you wanted Soarview in satellite form you'd have to put up another dish (cause thats not broadcast from Astra2)

But as pog said go with an aerial to recieve soarview.

You don't need the whole kit, you already have the dish. There's no guarantee that a self-installed aerial like that will prove a success for terrestrial reception either.

As said you need a combo box and an aerial. If possible pay for a professionally installed aerial. You could also feed the output of the Sky box to the 2nd TV and change channels using a Sky eye.
