Getting pee'd off with this a lot recently. I wish it was completely nerfed, for a while so we could see what gameplay is like without it.

Even the rumble from explosions are a bit OTT.

I don't really mind most of the suppression mechanics within the game, but some of the LMG's are ridiculous. Sure thing DICE, putting an suppressor on a M60 really does render it undetectable.

Wtf......blurry screen, health still 100%, now i don't know what i am shooting at, don't know who is shooting at me, now i am dead.

The prone thing is a bit daft, get revived and before you can touch a button........dead again. Pointless...........

The joke suppression is the reason i quit playing the game for ages and the one of the reasons i just cant seem to enjoy it since ive tried to make a return.

It was perfect on release, why mess with it in the first place?
Red Orchestra 2 has the best suppression system out there, dice should learn from tripwire.
Boot up some BC2 and see how nice it is to play similar gameplay without this suppression BS.

Instead of 'Double Points' weekend, give us a suppression free weekend.
I didn't have the game from day one, how has the suppression changed since the beginning?

I've actually got no problem whatsoever with the supression.

I don't mind it, I just think it lasts too long when you get away from the person suppressing you.

At the end of the day suppression is meant to make it difficult for you to engage the enemy accurately. Just get your squad to put more fire back at the enemy then you can engage.

    Me too.

If you are being supressed just run for cover. I dont see a problem with it. It just means someone is shooting at me and time to get low or cover :pac:

Use Cover (or have someone in your squad with squad cover) as your specialisation and you negate a lot of the effects of suppression. It's nowhere near as bad as people make out.

    Nowhere near as bad?
Its not as simple as saying "use cover" ffs we all use cover in any fps.
Go play BC2 or indeed any fps with no suppression and then come back and tell me that.
Many times ive been 2 feet away from a guy,he starts shooting and i lay into him with a shotgun and do no damage at all?
Im not talking about he kills me straight away, there is a delay, i get off shots from 2 feet away and that is suppressed?
The suppression system is one of the main reasons BF3 has been dropped by the competitive scene.
Its not just me saying it, its now the general consensus amongst battlefield vets.

Heres a quick vid to see how its so overdone.
Zero skill just spamming bullets and rarely dies.
Just one of thousands of videos out there.

I just think the game was better without it.

Guess what - that's exactly what a machine gunner is supposed to do! They're not meant to be pot shotting people and picking up the odd kill, they spam an area with bullets and allow their team mates to get into a position to make the kill.

You get your suppression and kill assist scores to compensate you for not getting kills and for having an unwieldy monster gun that's got all the finesse of an oil tanker - not unreasonable.

It's not a terribly skilful tactic I fully admit, but machine gunners are supposed to be able to hold up a choke point like that. A team of people working well together will get around it without too much difficulty though.

I'd hate to see the suppression system completely removed, but toning it down isn't a terrible idea.

Also: I think Yimrsg meant to use the "COVR" or "SQUAD COVR" perks to avoid the worst of it - it does make a big difference.

Agreed, toning it down is all thats needed.

Its not just the machine gun its evident with, pretty much all weapons, i just took a random example video.
And no the squad cover doesnt make much difference.
Shooting a guy from 2 feet with a shotty and nothing happens him because im being suppressed is just wrong.
Nice idea Dice just way overdone.

Yea, it should be toned down for other weapons at least. The light machine gun is an area weapon so I don't mind it being used like that.

Squad specialisation Cover not cover as in behind a wall.100px-COVRicon.png
BC2 has moments where you're senses were shot to pieces after a tank shell hits close to you or a building collapses nearby and makes the wub-wub sound, so there were sensory impediments before suppression in BF3.

Thats more to do with accuracy/latency/hipfire spread/ping and has very little to do with suppression. Your particular choice of Shotgun ammo also has an effect.

That video just shows how poor a map metro is. It's a bottlenecked to hell and even without suppression it's a clusterfcuk at times. Is suppression so bad or prevalent in other maps? No, because it's not a major (or minor) issue in them and it's only an issue in a couple of instances in certain maps that are found lacking when it comes to design.

If you think that suppression is an issue look at what people are bitching to dice in the thread on reddit about BF3 and be surprised. Out of the top 500 comments there are 11 16 instances of "suppression" mentioned.
