Not being smart but if i was a bialiff and is seen a guy lamping a river i be dwn like a shot to investigate but doubt i'd say much if guy only had a gun but if had a gaf or net it be different i guess. The lamp be a good job i'd say for getting mink, never tried it or seen a mink with a lamp out lamping

never tried it, but was out night fishing a few years ago for trout when i heard a duck quacking under pressure under the tree's across from me, there was some deadly splashing and quacking going on full sure it was a mink until i shon the lamp and saw an otter headding off with him.

Didnt even know you could lamp mink... Must give it a bash some night, theres a fair few mink around here. Do you just walk along with the lamp and hope to spot one, or is there any way to "call" him or lure him in?

was out lamping two weeks ago up on mountain land and on are way up the road one of the little feckers ran across the road in front of us, so out i jumped with lamp and into the field and my mate who was doing the shooting that night got rifle ready and followed me into the field,i had the fox pro call around my neck so i started calling on it and there he poopped out of a hedge 100 yards or so up a hill and started heading towards us at a good pace but when he fired at it he misjudged the distance and hit just below him. about an hour later and about a mile away on another part of the mountain i was calling again and another one started coming into the call but he was a cute one he parked himself on a bit of a hill about 50 yards away so no safe shot to be had, think our best option at this stage might be to put out a couple of traps:D we were both talking about it afterwards and agreed it was a bit strange to have mink up there as there is a small river but deff no fish in it,closet river with fish would be 3-4 mile away would this be unusual for them?

I was calling crows in and on two separate occasions I called in a pinemartin and the last time a mink came in. Rabbit distress will lure a mink

For anyone trapping.use sardines from a sunflower oil range, as its smellier.and unless you like your fingers smelling fishy : p wear gloves!

    it works great.
Drag the rabbit around the area where you are placing the cage to leave a bit of scent, cut the back leg off and place under the cage, place stones all around the back of the cage to prevent mink from moving the cage, cover the rest of the cage with whatever grass and bushes are at hand leaving a tidy entrance into the cage. mink hunt against the flow of water so to increase your catching rate face the cage down stream.
