    Hi all!

Its been a freaking 2 week nightmare... first i bought wrong router(with no modem - ADSL function now bought right one but cant configure it...

Im on Smart and bought Cisco by linksys X2000

Now tried the cisco quick connect but there it is just saying that my username and passw is wrong even tho i have the official paper in front of me with my details and tried it several times - dead end!

Now going into advanced router settings (192.168.1.1) set up EVERYTING like it was on my stock smart router but it dosent give me IP adress...

    (and so on....)

From the log I understand the DSL link is up and running but it cant give me the IP adress so I can browse...

On stock smart router everything works great AND my friend gave me some Philips ADSL router which he dosent use at the moment(which i have been using because stock smart routers SUCKS ASS and with them i cant reach even 2mb/s :D and they have allready sent me 2 new ones - Thomson TG585 v7 but on philips i reached 9mb/s easy) and on philips I set up normaly like in 5minutes and also everything works on this modem...

Calling to them also is a total waste of time and money because i feel like im talking to the wall... They only know how to diagnose phone line, reset phone line and send new routers! Nothing else! And I have called them like 6 times in these 2 weeks and spent over 30eur on top-ups because of them... But in the end i get no good answer!

    Can someone PLEASE help?

Have you checked to make sure that DHCP is enabled on the router? This may be the reason why you're not getting an IP.

DHCP was checked on and off but nothing changed

Are you not getting a WAN IP or is the router not giving out IP's on your local network?

Do you have to provide a pppoe username and password to connect to smart?

    Some more screenshot info:

    Main setup page:
    nkklaqxq61emurw8v81_thumb.jpg

    DSL connection page:
    aoo1xaxq7jfcswywtj4_thumb.jpg

    Status page:
    r76fz4vpueml582t8in_thumb.jpg

As you can see in DSL connection the status is 'up' But in status page All of the IP adresses shows total '0' ... If i press the connect button - nothing changes he just sayes connecting... Went for a walk for about 2h got back but the same situation and in log the same message that is is my first post

    'PPPoE sending PADI. 69
    PPPoE sending PADT. 69
    PPP=> Start to connect ... 78'

    long long list... :D

Maybe I somewhere did not set up properly in the screens?

P.S. I have alreday tried to reset to factory def. and just entered my pppoe usern. & pasw. but the same... ( down in notification bar the network icon is with yellow triangle and when i try to go to some page chrome sayes DNS lookop failed)

    No! ;)

The problem lies elsewhere, did you run a speed test?
    LooNeYlv wrote: »

    Virtual Circuit

you have no dns server set atm, so it won't find webpages,

try google dns server ip: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

you won't need the third dns server

That's because he was not connected. The DNS server(s) will be configured automatically upon connection to the ISP.

Of course there's nothing wrong with using OpenDNS or Google's public DNS server.

the mtu is set wrong for smart , it should 1492, by the screenshot its currently set to 1300

it dosent matter what i input there.. I have tried 1000, 1300, 1492... to all its the same situation- like some pages loads wery slow, some dosent load at all... but skype works

If i set the MTU on auto then no pages at all loads... all the pages drops with connection timeout... and also skype dosent work

only trying to help mate, i can't help you if we don't have your current setup screen, as your screenshot dosen't have all the info.

i have a linksy router just like your.

here is a example of mine:

    router%20setup.JPG

i do realize its a different model, but the GUI is the nearly the same

Oh sorry.. I sit on thomson cuz at least tomson has some speed... :D

Just reconnected the cables to the cisco and here you go -

With this config internet speed is faster but still something lags and pages still load to slow than it should load...

I think QOS (Quality of service) might be affecting your internet,

empty out the PCR rate and SCR rate to nothing , you might need to change it to another QOS type to do so, once blanked , change it back to UBR qos type.

    then click save

Try changing DSL modulation to auto and disable autodetect, that's what I've it set at with Eircom. I don't have any QOS options. Here's a screenie

So the main speed problem was in my line... After few calls to smart they finnaly did something and requested eircom to check my line.. Eircom came and the fault was in my home line box... They replaced it and now my line is working like it should... but still cant configure my linksys... Everything is configured by your help and in status it shows connected etc but still I have the yellow triangle in internet icon and internet dosent go...

    My network diagnostic screen -
    xedtf8y0urttociw01go_thumb.jpg

And in network map everything is good until the last connection - my router and pc... there is red cross...

That looks like you're connected but having problems with DNS, try OpenDNS, manually set the DNS on your network card to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

If that works, manually input these DNS settings to the DHCP section of the Linksys (under Lan somewhere)so it gives them out to connecting devices.

User name: eircom??? You are with Smart Telecom now, right? Enter the new user name and password provided by Smart.

    Jup jup :D

Right internet now works with openDNS.org provided DNS values... Now just can i input smarts DNS values from the linksys status page? will this work? Or someone with smart ISP can post smarts DNS values?

    Silly old me... *facepalm*

You might as well stick to OpenDNS, read up on their website about the benefits, well worth registering for a free account.

Right... Changed to the automatic DNS optaining in windows, restarted my pc and now everything works with smart def. settings!
