Compact to Standard and braze-on front mech

Bike is a BMC streetracer, braze on front mech, short cage rear mech, currently has a compact chainset and 11-25 cassette.

I've been toying with the idea of picking up a standard double chainset and an 11/12-28 cassette on a second rear wheel.

First question, with a braze on front mech, will I be able to fit a standard double chainset on?

Second question, would the chain be long enough to support both a 50/34 and 11-25, and a 53/39 and 11/12-28, if I was to alternate between the two, depending on what I'm using the bike for?

Braze-on FD mounts usually have a vertical slot to allow adjustment of FD height for different chainsets.
