Folks does any body know how long exactly it takes for garda vetting these days, i work in an organisation where all staff have to be vetted before taken on which is the rule now in most places and its a good one. BUT its the length of time its taking that is a big problem. we interviewed in march sent away garda vetting on the successful candidate got it back in a week saying that as this person lived in england 40 years ago they first had to get disclosure from GB which the person did and got it back in 2 weeks that now had us in the first week of May not bad you might think. we then sent it off for garda vetting here in ireland and we are still waiting for it to come back after several phone calls almost on a daily basis were just told that its the norm we will send it on as soon as we have it etc etc etc and its silly season in offices with holidays etc. can this process not be hurried up as companies etc cant start staff until its back.also if you get garda vetting in this country today and change jobs next week you will have to go through the whole process again there does not seem to be a data base.as this is now compulsary for all jobs and volunteers with groups can there not be a better process put in place jobs are far and few between and the waiting on garda vetting isnt helping employers who have a few jobs to offer.
