    ..for 8K

    Options welcomed, thanks.

    :)

Edit to say, i don't do huge mileage so fuel consumption isn't a major concern; driveability and reliability would be my preferred focus.
    thanks again,,.

If you don't do high mileage then why do you want a diesel? A petrol equivalent will be cheaper along with never having to worry about a DMF/DPF.

Would you get a 1.9 pisshat with a DPF for eight grand?

I thought the 1.9 didnt come with a DPF anyway?

If you are doing small mileage I'd be looking at a 1.4 turbo Passat. Decent enough economy, more powerful, cheaper to buy, lower tax depending on year and more suited to your needs.

I'd also be interested in hearing what people think.

I've just started a job which will have me doing at least 430km a week (dual carriageway and m50 for 95% of this).

Although 7k would be my budget. I was looking at Audi A3 diesels.

Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi we bought another one yesterday. Have a 1.9tdi 2005 and a 2011 1.6 tdi. And funny enough the 2005 is a bit better on diesel 5.1 l per 100km that's just tipping around not long drives. There great cars just get in turn the key and go. Never give any real trouble. And for 8k you would get a nice one 2007 or 2008. Great on diesel reliable and comfortable can't go wrong.

My apologies, could have sworn they came with a DPF. Nevermind then. My point still stands about the mileage though.

If you want a diesel just buy one. You don't need to do huge mileage to buy. My parents buy diesel because they prefer them the bit of extra torque. My dad hates petrol. So what I'm trying to say is if you want a diesel buy a diesel forget about mileage and all that.

They did actually but I dont think there was many sold here. +1 about the mileage though.

How can you tell if there is a DPF on a 1.9tdi ? Lack of soot on exhaust?

Also for OP your mileage seems too low for a diesel.

It will be on the options code in the boot or on the service manual or as yourself stick your finger on the exhaust....
