    Hi guys.
Im pretty sure im being over charged the USC.
I'm on a medical card and work part time, anywhere from 18-40 hrs aprox.
    I was unemployed from dec 11- may12
so i havent a huge amount of earnings for the yr.

now i had a bit of hassle getting my p45 from my last employer but now its all sorted and i got my new tax cert. except i got deducted over 18 euro in the USC this week.
I thought this was very excessive for someone on minimum wage and a part time contract. am i correct in assuming there is something not right here.

ps. I spoke to revenue about it a few weeks back and i gave them my medical card number etc.

Have you a copy of your Tax Credit & cuttoff points from revenue? - Check the USC section for the cutoff points. There should be no USC if you have a Medical Card.

It's a reduced rate not exemption.
