HI lads, Iv'e a SiliverCrest Sl 65 Satellite Receiver which stuck on standby. It was working fine yesterday then today went to switch it on as normal but all that comes on is the standby light:confused: Disconected all cables & reconnected them but no joy. Any ideas, or is it time for a new box?

    Cheers Brian

    Hi Brian.D,

Failing capacitors on the power supply has been a common occurrence with ageing SL-65s. Unless the receiver is still under warranty, it's probably not worth bothering with.

Cheers Brian I was thinking as much, looks like its time to get a new Sat box. Any ideas for a replacement model?

    Hi Brian,

If you just want a straight replacement for the Silvercrest then something like the Technomate TM3000D won't break the bank and is a reliable unit but there's lots of choice including HD boxes if you don't already have that by other means.

    Hi Brian,
Same happened to me. Would recommend going for a box with hd. Sound and picture on standard definition channels are far superior to the sl65.
    I got a triax hds110 in D.I.D. for €90.
I'm no expert but for me the improvement is night and day.

I have two of these Lidl boxes and find them great, one developed a similar fault, tried a reboot(hold in power button on right hand front of box while turn on toggle switch back of box) and she sprung back to life. Working fine ever since. Hope this helps.
