    Hi All,

Getting a bit of an odd issue after my PC crashed out. As shown in the photo below, there are columns along it flickering. Sometimes they are solid white on the BIOS screen. This happens from the start of the booting up, until trying to load Windows (Vista).

    dravscreen.jpg

PC Make / Model: Packard Bell / IPOWER x9800
RAM: 6 GB (Bios can recognise its all there)
HDD: 2X 500GB Sata drives (Bios can recognise its all there)
GFX: Nvidia 9800 (unsure of type now and can't boot to verify) x2 in SLI
    MB: NF750i

I've been able to find a driver for the motherboard here although I'm unsure if that's the problem. Nor seem to be able to a guide on how to flash the bios, without windows loading up. This is also all I can find on their support site. Looking up the model number and even my serial number brings up nothing on their site.

So basically, just wondering, has anyone had their PC turn into a high powered C64? :o And any ideas on what I should be looking at, I don't even know what keywords could be useful for it?

Any help would be much appreciated, cheers!

    EDIT:
Also, the crash, was streaming flash media in FireFox and the whole screen started to jutter and came up with an error referring to the media being unplayable.

Have you tried pulling one or both of the graphics cards and testing with a different one?

Yeah, there's a good chance one of them is about to die. 9xxx's werent as bad as 8xxx's but still very much not unheard of.

Have you ever repasted them? Might be time to do a full case takedown and clean+repaste.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check that out. The GFX cards haven't have been touched since the PC was purchased.

I've another PCI express card I can check with after I try switching'em. To be sure as well. I should have some thermal paste, so I might as well give that a go at the same time.

Just thinking the CPU has a huge cooling system on it, would it be worth getting at that to repaste it as well while I'm in there?

If its in there over two years I'd say yeah. TBH, while you're at it strip the case down as much as you can and clean that SOB out.
