Asking on behalf of my mate...

He has a repeat but only sent in to do the repeat CA instead of the CA and written exam, he's tried contacting the college but with no joy, the written exam is next Friday, is it possible for him to do it or is it his best idea to contact the college on Monday when the repeats start and hopefully there's people around.

I was in the college today and there are people around but for whatever reason, they don't like answering the phones. (Called them 3 or 4 times in the past week before they answered) Best bet would be to probably go in and get it sorted out in person. For all he knows, there could be forms he has to sign or something else in order to sit the written exam.

    Hey Guys,

Had a question about repeats so instead of making another thread I am posting in this one.

What happens if you fail the repeat exam? Do you have to repeat the year or still can go into the next year?
If your course say you need to get 60 credits to pass Year 1 and you only have 50 and fail the repeat exam , what happens then?

You must have passed all modules in other to progress into the following year. However, if you get a D (35% - 39%), you can compensate that against another module. I think if you get a C+ or higher in another module, it will be compensated and you can go into the following year. If you fail that repeat subject, you will have to repeat the year.

    Thanks for the reply.

Does that include the optional subjects like Spanish , French and Business Environment that are not mandatory in your course. I failed Spanish, which I could not get into my head at all , therefore I changed from Spanish to another module at the end of first semester , the Spanish lecturer asked me to change as she also knew that I cannot get it into my head. I know about 5 languages already , therefore it was difficult for me to learn another one.

So I have not done Spanish since December 2011 and was sick for the Winter exam in Jan which I got deferred and have to repeat now. That is the only subject that I have to do now as I have passed all of the other exam for both semesters with good grades and GPA.

I still cant get a word of Spanish into my head, so more than likely I will fail the repeat but its not that I have not studied for it , its just that I cant grasp a word of it and instantly get confused between French and Spanish and start writing French instead of Spanish.

I really don't know what the story is with optional modules. Best to speak to your lecturer or head of department about that. Sorry about that. I wouldn't want to give you false information that I don't know. Could be a different story if the subject was optional or could have been the same situation as it would be if it was mandatory.
