It is when youve seen it 2 or 3 years in a row,not 10 or 20.

If you're in the greater Dublin area or along the east coast, there is work taking place at the Kippure transmitter today affecting all radio channels.

Was yesterday too, according to this:
    Service Notification:
    2rn - Kippure, Co. Wicklow.
Due to essential engineering work, our Kippure transmitter will be subject to two breaks in transmission. The first will be for 10 hours on Tuesday 4th October, the second for 6 hours on Wednesday 5th of October 2016.
This work will affect all DAB & FM radio services from this transmitter.
2n apologise for any inconvenience caused by this necessary work.

You come across as anti-rte. Maybe it's the grass you're chewing?

It's probably because I'm listening to rte that I'm aware it's going off air . The Darcy show can be very interesting, and it's annoying when the station goes mid sentence. As regards anti rte ,rte radio 1 has most of the best talk shows in the country.

    Probably the Russians.

You can let them know by emailing 2rntech (at) rte.ie and just give them your approximate location so they know which transmitter you're listening to.

Are you sure it's definitely the transmitter that's down and not an issue with reception?
It's definitely just RTE Radio 1 and you've checked with another radio?

Thanks, will log transmission off times and email them.

It went again today, I've just emailed them.

At last an explanation,. Thank you for your query. It is possible that you could have lost service briefly yesterday if tuned to our transmitter at Kippure (89.1 for Radio 1). We are carrying out some major engineering works on the mast there which requires occasional short breaks to protect the workers on the structure. This is likely to re-occur several more times (including today) until the work is complete in June. RTÉ Radio 1 should also be available from our Three Rock transmitter in your area on 88.5MHz, as an alternative. Regards, 2RN Tech.
