    Hi,

Every time I start up my computer (Windows XP with all updates) my Bullguard AV throws up a message telling me that someting called "Application Updater" wants to access the internet and asks me do I want to allow it. I click don't allow and everyting works ok.

I did a search on the computer for "Application Updater" and the search throws up as shown in attached image. Doesn't really tell me much :(

Anybody know what this might be?

    Thanks

Do you have PDF Forge or PDF Creator programs installed? Or it could be a youtube toolbar

Can you right click on the application and go to properties, then click the Details tab and see what it says under origin.

    Thanks for the replies.

To the best of my knowledge, I have no PDF creator files installed (I have this computer a long time now and may well have done something in the dim and distant past and uninstalled it.). However this issue only came up recently.

When I right click and go to properties, there is actually no option to select details however the attached images show what comes up when I look at Version and Digital Signature .... something referring to Spigot

I should also add that I have a habit of downloading free applications (usually recommended in computer magazines) to try them out. Most of them are uninstalled eventually but I have kept one or two useful ones.

It's a search toolbar. Uninstall it from your control panel. It could be called dealio toolbar or some other toolbar

might not be a bad idea to run malwarebytes or superantispyware and ccleaner to get rid of anything nasty lurking in there

Youtube Downloader also carries Spigot spyware.

Thanks everyone for all the advice and help. It was a search toolbar associated with youtubedownloader. Now uninstalled and everything ok.
