Research funding and postgrad grant

    Hey guys,

I hope I'm not rehashing something someone else has asked but my situation is a bit tricky so I said I'd start a thread.

I'm hoping to do an MRes in October. I have been offered a position as a research assistant by my supervisor which is not connected to the Masters itself. I was wondering if this might count as a scholarship or bursary or would actually fall under the heading of a part-time job. The person offering me the position has received their funding from IRCHSS but I'm not in receipt of an IRCHSS grant myself.

What I'd like to know is if accepting this paid position will affect my chances of getting the postgraduate grant as, to be honest, the money I'll get from the assistant job will only barely cover tuition fees. Also, do I need to include this information in my grant application (note that my income is not taken into account because I'm down as 'dependent' on my parents) and, if so, where?
