    Hi,

Is there anyway on finding out who deleted an email from a SMB.

There is no rule in the SMB to delete emails and there are about 20 users able to delete emails from the SBM and all deny deleting them. This is not a once off thing

    which version

there should be auditing in there

also if there is a chance emails will be deleted before they get backed up you could always setup a rule to copy / forward them do a different store / mailbox / mail server

    its 2007.

There is not auditing activate on the mailbox.
There wont be a chance on getting all the mails copied(duplication or mailbox is a big no no)

I i could find out who is deleting the mail then we could get it all sorted and no need for coping all the mails.

you want a techno fix for having your hands tied behind your back ?

oh yeah the duplicate mailbox doesn't have to be publicaly accessible

talk to someone higher up the food chain - if emails can be deleted willy/nilly by random people then no one can depend on them

other option is to make the folder read only - but that's not going to work is it ?

Could work really well if you create a rule to forward all mails received to each of the 20's individual email accounts...

Clearly if you cannot trust one of the 20 then 19 will have to suffer if you can't enable change control of some sort.

and if single instance storage is working then it would take up hardly any extra space
